To encourage investors in bagasse co-generation sector, the state gives capital subsidy to co-gen projects based on boiler configuration and also financial assistance, the economic survey said. The policy targets 14,400 MW capacity power projects based on new and renewable energy sources to be installed in the next five years, the survey said.The state has commissioned 19 biomass projects and 17 projects have were approved till December 2015. The government also aims at generating 14,400 MW of power through renewable sources like wind, solar, biomass and bagasse co-generation. The Koradi Unit-9 China wholesale solar power systems and 10 (660 MW each) is expected to start generation by May 2016..As per the information revealed in the economic survey 2015-16 recently, the state will have three on-going thermal projects commissioned by May.
